Hello Friends of FIGHT!

All of us at Institute for Community Justice, a program of FIGHT’s Prison and Reentry Services, would like to invite you to a Brown Bag Lunch Series event on Tuesday, September 7th at noon at 21 S. 12th St. Suite 700.

Attorney, Caitlin Barry of Nationalities Service Center will be presenting:

 Deportation 101:

Detention, Deportation and the Philadelphia Criminal System

Why are so many prisoners in the Philadelphia prison system being turned over to federal immigration authorities? What rights do Philadelphia residents have regarding immigration interviews and detainers? What happens after a transfer to immigration custody? This brown bag lunch will give a brief overview of the federal deportation system, including immigration detention and bond and the immigration court system. We will also discuss the current policies of the Philadelphia police and the prison system regarding immigration reporting and immigration detainers. Please bring your questions and concerns!

Please RSVP to tsullivan@community-justice.org if you are interested in attending.  We all hope to see you there!
