Come out to the LGBT Immigrants' Rights Panel Discussion!
This special event comes at a time when our nation’s attention is beginning to focus on comprehensive immigration reform. With powerful stakeholders expressing their opinions and positions to shape immigration reform, often specific communities’ concerns get lost in the debate. At the same time, the conversations regarding immigration within LGBTQ communities have only had a narrow focus almost exclusively on bi-national same-sex couples. This event is an opportunity to have a fuller discussion and identify some key positions for LGBTQ Asian Americans, South Asians, Southeast Asians, and other LGBT immigrants of color.
?We're looking to rally the Asian immigrant population and join in conversation with Latin@ immigrant communities.
The panel discussion will provide personal narratives, and legal and policy framework that shape the immigration debate, and invite us all to think more broadly about immigration issues through the intersectional lens within our diverse communities.
Sponsored by: Queer Philadelphia Asian (QPA) and National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA)
Co-sponsored by: GALAEI, ASIAC, PICC and WIARS
