Support the Media Mobilizing Project in the New Year
We imagine a Philadelphia region where those of us working for justice move faster than lightning. When the city, big companies, immigration officials or bureaucrats step in front of our movement, we can communicate so fast and so well that we defend ourselves easily. The Media Mobilizing Project – in 2009, more than ever – was able to stop imagining and to see what we have already built.

to make sure that we have the resources to meet our dreams, together.
Over the past year, we have planned and executed concrete steps to build the media infrastructure and movement leadership we need – and the city we all deserve. Highlights include:
We celebrated the one-year anniversary of Labor Justice Radio and Radio Tlacuache
, our English- and Spanish-language
workers’ rights radio shows.
Labor Justice Radio also has
online listeners in over 20 countries and five continents.
In English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese, we trained over 200 poor and working leaders
in video and audio making, writing, computer literacy, leadership, organizing, and in
knowing and communicating about their rights
.
At mediamobilizing.org, we shaped the public discourse
around Philadelphia city government’s response to the economic crisis, taxi drivers’ struggle for workers compensation, the fight to keep predatory gambling out of our neighborhoods, the closing of vital hospitals and other community institutions, the struggle of home care attendants and people with disabilities, and countless other issues.
This is just a taste of our growing capacity and work. Two exciting highlights from our 2010 plans include:
We will launch MMP-TV
, a bi-monthly television show that will broadcast on Philadelphia’s new public access station and tell the truth about what is happening in our world. MMP-TV will be produced by workers, students, immigrants, homeless parents, and other members of our network who, as you read this letter, are being trained in the skills they need to do this.
We will implement an Advanced Leadership Training Program for brilliant community leaders
, which will prepare new generations of poor and working leaders to build a world in which all people will have health care, an inspiring education, secure housing, the means of communication, and jobs with dignity.
We have never been so focused and excited about the growth of the movement for justice in Philadelphia and beyond. With your support, we can execute the next steps of this bold vision, and bring your voice into this vital work.
Please give as generously as you can now.
With thanks, love and hope in what we can do together,
The Media Mobilizing Project
