New Jersey Platform is our home for multimedia stories from South Jersey. It’s a place for news and community voices about important issues in a region with dwindling local news coverage.
At NJ Platform, we bring together a diverse array of voices and experiences in Camden, Atlantic City and beyond. We reflect and amplify community visions for change, informing people about the pressing issues that aren’t getting enough news coverage, and providing commentary on reporting form other news outlets.
As we embark on this effort online, we are also working on the ground – amplifying the voices of community leaders and organizations in South Jersey. We’re working with municipal services, cultural organizations, community groups, and service agencies to help build their ability to tell their own stories, represent their work in the media, and engage wider audiences.

Building a Sandcastle
Building a Sandcastle: A Broken Promise to Atlantic City is about the casino workers who remain after the wave of casino closures and layoffs in 2014. Now employed by an industry looking to secure its bottom line by cutting pensions, healthcare and work hours, casino employees are getting organized and fighting back. In the process they are working with neighbors across Atlantic City to reimagine the future of this resort town on the Jersey coast.
