Predictive Policing

In the 21st century, police departments are turning to predictive algorithms to determine where to send police, to calculate how likely a pre-trial defendant is to flee or get rearrested if released, and to save costs.  The voices of community members impacted by systemic racism and other prejudices inside criminal justice are essential at this critical juncture.  As a member of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights Roundtable, as a partner to groups across Philadelphia and nationally working to address major inequities in mass incarceration and criminal justice, and as an anchor member of the Media Action Grassroots Network, Media Mobilizing Project helps bring the voices of community members impacted by the criminal justice system into policy debates and into the communities shaping predictive policing policies at a rapid pace.
